Now that you have an idea of what, we have to talk about the most important part: The how.
There are Four things that the tech world values and that makes people truly and deeply successful in this field:
**Curiousity -**you have to be willing and committed to learning and then applying your knowledge. You have to be aware that are things you don’t know and have a desire and passion to fill in those blanks.
**Communication *-*you have to be able to speak up an out. Advocate for yourself, introduce yourself, tell people where you are struggling and what you can use help with.
**Community -**Community is everything in the tech industry. Wether it be classes and cohorts looking to support and propel students or open source projects you might contribute to online or conferences and conversations you’re apart of; show up and be present where others who share your interests are.
Comprehension- You also have to do the work and be able to back it up when asked. That means you it’s not enough to just learn the theory of how different technologies wok, you have to be able to apply it and make tangible use of whatever ecosystem you work within.
Because of these four reasons, the industry is filled with resources for self starters, those that need communities and support, free curriculums, and professional development resources that also double as job boards. There are an infinite number of ways to get started and realize (quickly) a new reality in which you work in a space that supports and encourages your skillsets and true interests. I’ll help you get started with some courses, communties and job boards for when you’re ready.
